ROYAL GATES ART GALLERY

"One Who Liberates Form for the Spirit.

In the stillness of his spaces, Elias Franziskus Grüner creates art as meditation - traces of lines, breaths of light, vibrations of matter. Born from rabbit-skin glue, marble dust, and gold leaf, his works become rituals where the invisible gently touches the visible.
His installations are not mere objects but states of being: Clouds, Colorful Stones, Spotted Land act as portals between time and void, inviting the viewer into a dialogue with the unspoken."

"SHAMANS. Communication with the Invisible"

The catalogue shows the exhibition "SHAMANS. Communication with the Invisible" at METS, MART and MUSE; from December 17, 2023 to October 6, 2024.

"Shamanism is a theme that takes us back to a world of images of atavistic rites, disturbing masks, hallucinations and exotic places. But what is it really? Who are shamans and what do they do? What role do they play in current and past communities? The protagonists of the exhibition and the catalogue are the finds of the Sergio Poggianella Foundation, one of the most important collections of shamanic artifacts in the world. Examined, contextualized, placed in dialogue with contemporary works of art, with objects of traditional Trentino culture and with the architecture of the exhibition spaces, they become useful ideas for a different look at today."

V.A.J.: How did your project CLOUDS evolve, and what does the cloud symbolize in your work?

E.F.G.: […] The cloud does not just remain between earth and sky, but oscillates – as an object – between phenomenon and ether. The ease with which the masses move between transcendence and worldliness, is reason enough to include it as a symbol in my art.
